About
Founded in 1954, the New Jersey Music Teachers Association (NJMTA) is an affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). The objective of the NJMTA is to advance the musical knowledge and to promote professional growth among music teachers, and to conduct activities which encourage and support teaching, performance, composition and the appreciation of music. We are a nonprofit organization whose funds are used solely to accomplish these objectives.
NJMTA is a 501(c)(3) literary and educational organization devoted to the advancement of music education, specifically:
To conduct programs and activities to build a vital musical culture and an enlightened musical public for the benefit and the general welfare of all persons;
To ensure that every student shall have access to a balanced, comprehensive, and high quality program of music instruction;
To promote the quality of teaching, research and scholarship in music;
To promote the involvement of persons of all ages in learning music;
To foster the utilization of the most effective techniques and resources in music instruction; and,
To facilitate the education of music teachers.
VISION AND VALUES
The mission of MTNA is to advance the value of music study and music making in society
and to support the professionalism of music teachers.
The mission is accomplished by members who teach with competence, act with integrity, and volunteer services to MTNA programs, provide professional support for colleagues and communities, and comply with all laws and regulations that impact the music teaching profession.
