Advanced Master Class

The Advanced Master Class is an event that occurs during NJMTA’s Annual State Conference.
Upto four students are selected through auditions and will perform for the Featured Guest Artist of the conference in the Advanced Master Class.

AUDITION DATE : Sunday, November 3, 2024

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Monday, September 16, 2024

REGISTRATION FEE: $70 Fees are non-refundable

PERFORMANCE: during the State Conference, November 16-17, 2024

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY: Please refer to the General Information page.

  • Age: 13 years old ~ Collegiate:Undergraduate level

  • Students are not permitted to perform two years in a row for the Master Class; Students who have performed in the 2023 master class are not eligible to audition in 2024.

TEACHER ELIGIBILITY: Please refer to the General Information page.

REPERTOIRE: One selection of 10 minutes or less from the advanced repertoire from any musical period in any style, such as a movement from a Beethoven Sonata. The selection is at the discretion of the teacher. No arrangements or simplified edition will be accepted. Repeats will not be played, unless the repeats affect the integrity of the piece. Variations must be performed in their entirety. Memorization is required.

TEACHER DUTY: $60, $85 and $110

Teachers registering students in both YMC (Piano) and Conference Master Class Audition pay duty fee only ONCE with the YMC registrations.



By participating in any NJMTA event, parents give permission to the New Jersey Music Teachers Association(NJMTA) to use photographs or videos of your child taken by NJMTA representative, with appropriate captions, in NJMTA publications, on the NJMTA website, social media and/or in the local newspapers. If you do not wish NJMTA to use your child’s photos/videos in any way, kindly notify the chairperson of the event in which your child is participating.
