2021 CONFERENCE

INTERMEDIATE MASTER CLASS

The NJMTA Intermediate Piano Master Class is NOT an auditioned event. The clinician will select student performers anonymously, based only on their repertoire and age. Selected students will perform during the 2021 NJMTA conference via live zoom meeting. Catherine Rollin will be the clinician for this year's master class.

By participating in any NJMTA event, parents give permission to the New Jersey Music Teachers Association(NJMTA) to use photographs or videos of your child taken by NJMTA representative, with appropriate captions, in NJMTA publications, on the NJMTA website, social media and/or in the local newspapers. If you do not wish NJMTA to use your child’s photos/videos in any way, kindly notify the chairperson of the event in which your child is participating.


SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES:

  1. Each teacher may submit a maximum of two students to play in the Master Class. Students who have played in the 2020 and 2019 master class will not be considered.

  2. Teachers are invited to submit early to late intermediate piano pieces such as Baroque Minuets/Dances, Bach Short Preludes & Fugues, Inventions and Sinfonias, Sonatinas by Clementi, Sonatas Op. 49 by Beethoven or early Haydn Sonatas, Chopin’s easier Waltzes, easier Songs Without Words by Mendelssohn, Schumann or Tchaikovsky Albums for the Young, Kabalevsky Children Pieces, etc. Ms. Rollin also welcomes the submission of her own compositions.

  3. No piece should exceed 5 minutes in length. Pieces should be memorized and well prepared.

  4. Fill out the registration form via NJMTA website. The deadline for submitting the registration form is October 25, 2021.

  5. After all applications are submitted, Ms. Rollin will make the selection of 4–6 students to perform at the master class. The names of students who have been selected by the artist will be posted on NJMTA’s website, and the teachers of those students will also be notified via email or phone. Students are not allowed to change the selection of pieces once selected.
