yoheved Kaplinsky

“Solution-Minded vs Mindless Practicing”
& Advanced Master Class

Yoheved Kaplinsky is the Susan W. Rose Chair of Juilliard’s Piano Department and, since 2007, director of the Juilliard Pre-College Division.
Dr. Kaplinsky performed throughout the United States, notably in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., as a recitalist, a chamber musician and a concert artist. Known for her discernment and understanding of piano technique, Dr. Kaplinsky has been in great demand for lectures and master classes in the U.S., Israel, and the Far East.

She has served on the faculties of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and the Manhattan School of Music, and has been a member of the Juilliard piano faculty since 1993. She is a visiting professor at the Texas Christian University in Forth Worth, Texas, at the China Conservatory in Beijing and at the newly opened Tianjin Juilliard School. 

 

 

Catherine Rollin

“Stepping Stones to Musical Magic”
& Intermediate Master Class

Catherine Rollin, pianist, composer, author and teacher, has over 400 pieces with Alfred Publishing Co. Her works are known for their lyricism and “teachability.” Her technique series “Pathways to Artistry” addresses the development of “informed” physicality that emphasizes arm weight, tone production and relaxation and gestures that support the phrase shape. This series has been translated into Japanese and Mandarin. has been translated into Japanese and Mandarin. Included among numerous commissions is her trio for piano, flute and alto saxophone, Suite Detroit, which was premiered at the MTNA Conference in 2018. Her works are on many prestigious lists including the solo, duet and concerto events of the National Federation of Music Clubs as well as the ABRSM , Royal Conservatory and Trinity exams in Australia, Canada and England respectively. Catherine’s most recent series Museum Masterpieces was honored with an award from ASCAP She is also a co-author of the highly regarded college text, Creative Piano Teaching. Catherine’s passion and commitment to teaching has been the inspiration for her composing and writing. Catherine’s students have been widely recognized for their musical and technical accomplishments including several MTNA national finalists. In the past 5 years, her students have been recognized in many other prestigious national and international competitions including the Steinway, Kaufman , Chopin/Hartford and Thousand Islands Competitions.
